ANDRÉA BURNS  is a winner of a Drama Desk Award for her creation of the role of Daniela, the saucy hairdresser in the Tony Award-winning musical In The Heights. Andréa recently starred in the Broadway production of The Notebook, a musical by Ingrid Michaelson and Bekah Brunstetter.

Ms. Burns received an Outer Critics Circle nomination for her show-stopping portrayal as Gloria Fajardo in Broadway’s On Your Feet!  Ms. Burns received raves for both of her performances as Constance in Dear World at City Center and as Sra. Nacarelli in Light in the Piazza in the Encores! Productions at New York City Center.   Andréa began her career touring the opera houses of Europe as Maria in West Side Story when she was 18 years old. In a full career circle, she recently played Señora Fausta in Stephen Spielberg’s film adaptation. You can catch her as Rosie in Hulu’s rom-com musical series, “Up Here.”

Other Broadway credits include: Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Vicki Nichols in The Full Monty,  Googie Gomez in The Ritz and Carmen in The Nance, opposite Nathan Lane, In The Heights, On Your Feet! and The Rose Tatoo.  Andréa also performed  in concert at Carnegie Hall alongside Elaine Stritch in Noel Coward’s Sail Away!

Off Broadway, Ms. Burns was in the original company of Jason Robert Brown’s critically acclaimed Songs for a New World and recently received accolades for her performance as Judy Holliday in Smart Blonde. Burns portrayed Lucille Frank in the first national tour of Jason Robert Brown's Parade, directed by Harold Prince.   Andréa was selected by Stephen Sondheim to create the role of Celeste in the New York premiere of  his musical,  Saturday Night.  

Additional television credits include The Equalizer,  Kevin Can Wait, Jessica Jones, Blue Bloods, Mindhunter, Law & Order: SVU, Rescue Me, The Electric Company (2009 TV series),and Wonder Pets. 

Ms. Burns is a passionate acting educator and currently serves on the faculty at Yale University.  She is the Associate Artistic director of CIMTSS, a musical theater summer school in New Zealand.  Her solo album A Deeper Shade Of Red kicked off her live concert career and now, as an official concert artist of  Playbill,  Andréa performs her show, which has been hailed by the New York Times as “ “uproarious and ebullient “, all over the world.
